Mr. President

Mr. President –

This Sunday I will share five things I would say to our next president and with each comment, I will unpack a principle that each of us could do that would radically change our lives and impact our community.

We must not only share our opinions, each of us must personally take action.  It’s time to stop sitting back, watching the news and complaining.  God wants you to make  bold stand.

It’s time for every Christian to become more concerned with what God thinks, what He is doing or allowing to happen, than what others think or what we see on the news.

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 – But regarding anything beyond this, dear friend, go easy. There’s no end to the publishing of books, and constant study wears you out so you’re no good for anything else. The last and final word is this:  Fear God.  Do what he tells you.  14 And that’s it. Eventually God will bring everything that we do out into the open and judge it according to its hidden intent, whether it’s good or evil.  (MSG)

Happy with ‘Merica?

If not, you must join the brave.  In Romans 13:7 God instructs us

to “Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.”

God tells us this immediately after telling us to submit to all authorities because authority itself has been established by God.  It takes being brave and bold in faith to do this in spite of how we feel.  I would be the first to say that there is much about America that is grieving me, however, I’ve lived long enough to see respect and honor become a rare occurrence.   I believe that that is the single biggest reason for the state of things today.

I would love to see America become great again, but I do not believe our hope is in our political system.  I believe it is in restoring respect and honor.  Parents, teachers, first-responders, and especially our police officers and service men and women and, yes, even our politicians are owed respect and honor, not for who they are as individuals, but for the position God has allowed them to hold.  Oh, and by the way, this would include church leaders and staff.

God always asks us to step out in faith doing what He has instructed first and then He promises to make sure we are provided for.  He tells to do this without griping and complaining.  In fact, we should do this out of respect for God.  We often focus on the respect God is due but this Sunday, I want to look at the question:  “Does God respect and honor you?”

Following Jesus takes bravery and boldness.  Are you brave enough to be due honor and respect from your heavenly father?

Join us this Sunday as we take time to honor those who so bravely serve us and discover God’s desire to stand up for you.

Brave Heart

FREEDOM!

In a culture of “free to be me” there are still so many unfulfilled, discouraged, depressed, and even upset people.  We all want to be free but I don’t believe we even know how to be free.  Most of us are living a life of free-falling.

This Sunday we are beginning our new series, “Merica”.  I am asking you to please consider celebrating your independence with us as part of your holiday weekend.  I would like to help you begin to live in freedom by showing you the one thing I believe is hurting us most as a country and  keeps us from experiencing the freedom we want.

Please don’t miss Sunday evening – we will be celebrating the 240th anniversary of our independence as a nation.  We will be gathering at 7:00 PM for fellowship (bring your own food, drinks, blankets, and chairs) with our own great display of fireworks beginning at dark.

Please do not forget to sign up for Team Member Training 101!  .I am asking everyone who is currently serving or is considering getting involved to please attend – it is just that important.
