SUNDAY ONLY CHRISTIANS

SUNDAY ONLY CHRISTIANS

One of my favorite sayings is:  Sitting in a church doesn’t make you a disciple of Christ any more than sitting in a garage makes you a car.

The difference between a “once a weeker” and a follower is running.  In other words:  a PLAN.  Accepting Jesus means accepting a life of serving.  Jesus did not come to be served but to serve and give His life as a ransom for us.  Your plan should not be just to get to heaven.

Do you have faith beyond the finish line?  In Luke 6 Jesus tells us to store up treasures in heaven.  In order to do that, we need to do more than just get there – we need to “produce fruit” now in this life by serving others and helping them become fully devoted followers of Christ, bearing fruit themselves.

That takes more than just being a Sunday only believer!

EXAMPLE

Hey Men and Ladies Too

– What kind of example do you set for your family when it comes to God?

Deut. 6:6-9 – 6-9 Write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates

. (MSG)

You can drag your kids to church and expect the Sunday School Teacher to teach them all about God, but the reality is that your child’s view of Jesus and our Heavenly Father will be developed by what they see you do.

In the verse above, the Bible said

, “…get them inside of you and then get them inside your children.”

It says this because it begins in your own heart and how you feel about God.  You can say what you want but our kids can see right through our words.  It is our attitude about our spouse, our job, and what we say about others that they take to heart. It is the actions we take by helping others or ignoring others.  It is our commitment or lake of it to attending and being a part of a church that forms their attitude.

If you haven’t figured out already, it’s

our

lifestyle that shapes our kids world.  With everything our kids are experiencing in the world today, more than ever they need a great example in their home.  Remember, Jesus has overcome the world, therefore there is only one thing we must do in order to live in Christ’s victory.  Say yes to the Big Ask!

Join us Sunday as we unpack what the Big Ask is.
