The following protocols have been created using the Jefferson County School systems reopening regulations as a guiding point. The COVID-19 situation is fluid and will change based on the number of positive cases in our area. Our goal is to have plans and protocol in place when and if we must change course.

PHASE ONE:

Phase One will be initiated based on schools being open. We will use the color coded system put out by the DHHR.  We will remain open in Phase One as long as schools are open and we are on a green or yellow for the county.

Children’s Church for ages 3-5th grade for Kids Rock

We will use a children’s church format for Phase One which means children will be taught in a
large group format that is not separated by ages. There will be one teacher and 1-2 volunteers.

Nursery will not be available for 2 years and under.  We feel it would be best to keep the nursery closed during Phase 1.  Base Camp will be available for the children of volunteers who are serving on that particular Sunday.

Screening Protocol

The local health department as well as the school system will be using the following protocol for screening: Temperature checks and screening questions.

Screening questions and temperatures are being documented and saved in case of an outbreak so the health department can do contract tracing.

Temperatures registering 100.4 or higher would deny children access to the building.  Children with any of the following symptoms should also be excluded: new cough, new runny nose or sore throat, temperature, or being exposed to a COVID 19 positive person.

The governor has mandated children ages 9 years and up should wear a face covering inside a public building. The public-school system is requiring masks for any school aged children which would be ages 4 years old (Pre-K) and up be worn inside.

Children who are sick with non COVID 19 type illnesses should remain home for the safety of everyone as the flu season will begin in the fall and we want to keep any illness to a minimum.

What Children’s Church looks like

Children ages 3-5th grade start worship in the auditorium with parents. Pastor Mike will then dismiss the children after worship to go to Children’s Church. The teacher and volunteers will escort the children to the JAMZone.

We will use the New Spring Large Group Curriculum that is organized by series. This curriculum focuses on age appropriate teachings that are explained in words children can understand on their level. Videos, songs, bible story, need to know and bible verses are included with each series. The series last between 6-8 weeks.

Pre-Registration: We would like families to sign up for service prior to the Sunday they will attend. This way we know how many children to expect. This will help us schedule volunteers and know how many supplies we will need. We will not serve any types of snacks for safety. There will be a large group lesson where we will teach all children in the large group with them sitting at least 6 feet apart. Each child will have their own praise packet that will include the activities for the lesson. Siblings will be allowed to sit next to each other.

Volunteers

Teachers: Currently Angie Donatone will teach 3 Sundays and Amanda Godlove will teach 1 Sunday a week.

Assistants/Volunteers: We need at least 1-2 volunteers to assist the teachers each Sunday. The number of volunteers will depend on the number of children attending.

Volunteers will undergo a health screening prior to serving each Sunday.  All volunteers will wash or sanitize hands before and after service.  Volunteers who are serving will be required to wear masks.

Cleaning, Health Precautions and Sanitation

Any toys that can’t be washed with a bleach/sanitizing solution will be removed from the room.

The room will be cleaned before/after use each Sunday.  Each child will have their own supplies so as not to share.  No child with COVID symptoms will be allowed in service.

Masks must be worn for all children attending Kids Rock services while inside of the building.

Masks may be removed when outside.  Children will be spaced at least 6 feet apart in the JAMZone. Siblings will be able to sit next to each other.  Hands will be sanitized with hand sanitizer upon entering the rooms and exiting the rooms.
