Unexpected

When was the last time you were surprised in a good way?  Jesus does the unexpected!  For those who will go beyond mere belief, for those who will act, Jesus will always show up in unexpected ways.

  • Zacchaeus climbed a tree – Jesus came to his house.
  • Thomas said he wouldn’t believe unless he saw for himself.  Jesus showed up and said “Put your hands in my wounds…”
  • Grieving Mary and Martha saw their brother raised from the dead.
  • The worn out fishermen were blessed by simply casting their net on the other side of the boat.
  • Mary at the tomb was comforted by the risen Christ himself.

I could go on but Jesus loves to do the unexpected and He’s waiting to do it for you.  Luke 11:10 tells us to act – to ask, to seek, and to knock and when we do, God will show up.

Because of Easter, you and I can expect the unexpected and when we do, life is never the same again.

Ramp it up!  I promise if you will be intentional about bringing someone with you this Easter Sunday, you’ll experience what it means to “expect the unexpected.”

Un-Friend Some

I was taken aback by the number of people I heard from after last Sunday’s talk about friendshift.

If you weren’t able to be here last week, we looked at what the Bible says about friends. Two things stood out
• We can have too many.
• Those we have should be a specific type.

A real friend is the kind (type) of person who is with you no matter what you do or what life brings and you can’t be that kind of friend with too many people because it requires allot.

Jesus asks us to be His friend and we like to consider Him a friend, but are we the kind of friend who is only there when we need something or do we walk with Jesus when others walk out? Jesus really only asks one thing of His friends: that is to help others come to Him. Jesus really asks less from us than most of our other friends.

Be the kind of friend who walks in when others won’t. Invite someone to church. Share what Jesus has done for you with someone who needs hope – it really is that simple, but it means everything to your friendship with Jesus.

Keep going to Him with your needs and concerns. He’s there for you because He’s your friend. I for one never want Jesus to wish He could un-friend me. I want Him to know how much I appreciate all He’s done for me.

See you Sunday – Pastor Mike

Friendship

If you want stronger relationships – if you’re tired of the frustration of being misunderstood or the pain of being stabbed in the back – our new series READY OR NOT is one you won’t want to miss.

Friendship is not something you learn in school, but if you haven’t learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven’t learned anything.   — Muhammad Ali

The boxing great, Muhammad Ali, isn’t the only one to share wisdom about friendship – It’s an important subject with God.

Knowing – really knowing – how to choose and be a friend will create positive life change in every area of your life, whether you are dating, married, or just sharing life with those closest to you.  Friendship is everything, including your relationship with God.
